These Gas Fire-pits can be a Great Way to Enjoy a Campfire Without the Negative Side Effects

There’s a natural human draw to the sight of flames and the warmth they provide.  Maybe it’s because like water, fire, was a critical element to provide for our safety and well being in our evolutionary history.  Whatever it is the smokey haze that covers every campground as evening approaches is proof that we have an insatiable lust for the wicked dancing flames.

But there are many times you may not want to have a fire.  During times of drought in certain areas you may be prohibited from having a fire.  Some people may not like the smell of smoke, or even be allergic to it.  And then there’s the hassle of extinguishing the fire before bed or waiting up until the fire has died down enough to be safe.  Whatever the reason, sometimes you just can’t do a real fire.

Enter the gas fire-pit as a solution to these problems.

These little things hook up to a standard 20 LB propane tank and will burn for hours putting off plenty of heat with none of the side effects.  When you are done, turn the dial and the fire is completely extinguished.  The lava rocks will safely glow for a few minutes but it is safe to leave unattended at this point, assuming you trust your fellow campers at least.

Fire Pit

It is missing some of the rustic qualities of a true wood fire, but for those times when you can’t or don’t want a full fire these things hit the spot!

Here is a link to the one I purchased through amazon last year.  There are many other options but I think this is one of the best available, which is why I purchased it.  It’s one of the biggest, which gives you the best flame and most real-fire-like experience in my personal opinion.
